Hi Bev,

I'm sorry that I cannot help you but I would like to request any input you may receive. My company has offices in China and Malaysia. I have just completed the retention schedule for the states but I will need to incorporate the retention requirements for the two global offices soon. I will forward any information that I do find.

Beverly, I'll keep you posted. I have found some references to keeping accounting docs 15 years, but have not gotten any citations to support that.

Hi Beverly,

Unfortunately, while I can't help you with with specific Chinese regs, I may be able to point you to someone who might. A few years ago I used to work for Joe Hammond, of Hammond Management Consulting, a records management consulting firm. With a major major US investment firm as our client who has offices all over the world, I traveled with him to Japan, Singapore, and several European countries where we did records inventories and developed retention schedules. We researched foreign laws to determine the appropriate regs and retention requirements, and after approval by the client, we then implemented the schedules and did the actual records cleanups. I know he did work for this client in Hong Kong and Bejing (after I left), so he knows about Chinese regs.

I am working for Beusa Energy @ The Woodlands Texas, I have some chinese business translators that might get me some info on the subject. I will go back to you as soon as I get any feed back from them.

I do not know if this is the right channel to ask for it, but is there any Energy Group at Arma Houston that you know of??, I would like to know if there is any special Regulation for Retention in O&G Industry in USA, can you help me??
